The foot skeleton with tibia and fibula attachments, movably mounted by Erler-Zimmer, is an anatomical teaching and demonstration model for illustrating the bony structures of the human foot, including the distal portions of the tibia and fibula. The model is based on a true-to-life cast and is designed for use in training, teaching, and clear demonstrations.
Unlike wire-mounted models, the bones of this foot skeleton are flexibly mounted on rubber. This mounting method allows for a dynamic representation of the natural foot movement under load and unloading, particularly in the area of the longitudinal and transverse arches and the adjacent joint structures. This makes it possible to visually trace the functional movement patterns of the foot.
The integration of the distal portions of the tibia and fibula allows for a realistic representation of the bony connection between the lower leg and foot. This facilitates a clear understanding of the anatomical relationships in the area of the ankle joint and the tarsal bones.
This model is intended for use in medical and anatomical education, including in the fields of anatomy, orthopedics, physiotherapy, sports science, and biomechanics. It serves solely to illustrate anatomical structures and functional movement patterns and is not intended for diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical applications.
